Musings of a Thoughtful Conservative: 'Catch and Release Kate'

It is surely possible to evaluate and classify inmates to deermine who is a threat to society ornot. Actaully doing so would enable us to individualize punishment/treatment and lock those up who really need it. Since at least 50% of inmates clogging our prisons are in for drug related "crimes", this is where to seriously look to see who can benefit from community supervision.

In the meantime those who need incarceration would benifit greatly from programming that encourages and teaches self responsibility, self respect and respect for others. That is not happening in our prisons and we all pay the price. It's about time to get creative about preventing crime and dealing with the criminals that have been allowed to grow and develop in our society. Is there anyone who can take the lead on this?
